Our Finals stats after a busy round last week
15 teams still in contention
5 eliminations
2 Grand Finals this weekend
4 teams went straight to Grand Final and have this week off
Our 6th Minor Premiership confirmed
The U21s cemented their Minor Premiership winning 4-0 and start their finals rounds this weekend. Good luck in the hunt for that third premiership lads!
The 13/4 needed a win in their final competition match to cement their place in the finals. Down 1-0 in the first few minutes they went on to win 17-1. I don't know what Grant said to them after that first goal, but say it again this week for their first final!
Our Grace Martin team (Women's 1st division) came roaring back with a 7-1 win over 4th placed Leichhardt B in the first round of the finals. This week they face second placed Hurlstone Park, who are tough opponents. However this Concord team always lifts their game for the finals - we have absolute faith they can bring the Grace Martin trophy home again.
The WIL/1 (women aged 16-19) are setting the world on fire, placing fourth on the ladder they have fought through two finals already and will face off with Minor Premiers Balmain, who have not lost a match all season. In competition matches Balmain drew against APIA who our team beat 8-2 in the finals. So it's a tough ask but this is the team that can do it!
Our second Grand Final is the 14/3 team. Second placed in the competition, losing to Minor Premiers Strathfield in Round 1, but beating Burwood last weekend for another chance at the Major. The competition results between the two teams were a loss and a draw, so it won't be easy but Strathfield are not invincible, dropping a match against Five Dock during the season. It can be done!
Good luck all!

Updates around Concord’s finals run highlight how quickly a campaign can shift once knockout football begins, where one moment can decide whether a season continues or ends. It’s also where leadership within a team becomes crucial — not just from captains, but from every player understanding their role and staying composed when the stakes are highest. While reading through these finals updates, I also came across ricky casino…
