The Season Grand Finale

This weekend is the last week of soccer for the 2019 winter season. :: ˓(ᑊᘩᑊ⁎) ::

Miniroos Under 5 to U7 will enjoy a soccer Gala day at Edwards Park on Saturday at their usual time, followed by a trophy presentation.

U8 to U11 will enjoy a Presentation Round, playing their last games, followed by a Presentation Ceremony for the CDSFA medallions.

The competitive age groups U12 though All Age and into the Over 35s and O45 all have their Grand Finals this weekend. Concord still has 5 teams in contention, after the O35/5A team were eliminated on a Penalty shootout last weekend. They had an awesome season, and were Minor Premiers. Supremely unlucky.

On Saturday we have Ryan's AA Division 7 playing Strathfield at Beaman Park. This team finished second on the table, then pulled a 4 - 2 upset in the Semis to beat first placed Strathfield and advance straight into the Grand Final. Strathfield then pulled off a narrow victory against Cooks River in the Final to qualify. The two teams meet again in the Grand Final - hopefully for a replica result to the Semi-Final.

On Sunday we have 4 Grand Finals at Ewen Park

9am will see our U12 Division 4 team match up with Marrickville. The 4's finished Minor Premiers for their division. They thumped Marrickville 5 : 2 in the Semis to advance straight to the Grand Final, and will meet them again in the GF. Marrickville won't give them an easy time, but we have every confidence Concord will prevail.

10:15 will see the U12 Division 3 line up against Leichhardt Saints. This team fought their way from 4th place into the Grand Final, eliminating third placed Leichhardt Tigers, then Minor Premiers Abbotsford along the way. Can they cause a truly major upset and beat the Saints who finished second on the table and WIN? We hope so!

Forcing us to choose who to watch, the U16 Division 3 are also playing at 10:15. Snatching the Minor Premiership at the last minute, and then winning the Semi to shortcut into the Grand Final, this team seems to have timed their performance peak perfectly, meeting third placed Strathfield. The first time these two teams met in competition Strathfield won 2 - 1, however the second time was 7 -1 to Concord. We're tipping the Concord lads to win.

Our WIL team play at 1:30. After finishing Minor Premiers they saw off second placed Hurlstone Park 5 - 0 in the Semis to advance to the GF. However third placed Balmain then beat H/Park 4 - 0 so they are really going to bring it. This promises to be a cracker of a game, but the Concord Dominators can be relied on to bring home the silverware.
