Finals update

The Finals series was brutal to Concord this week with 5 of our 11 hopefuls eliminated. Mick Stavrou was proven right about the need to practice Penalty Shootouts before the finals series as two games came down to Penalties.

So many of our losses this week were super close. The U12G Div 1 fought through extra time only to lose on a Penalty Shootout. Three eliminated teams lost only by 1-nil, the U16 Div 2G in their Final to Burwood in the icy wind at Neild Park, the 16 Div 1 against Balmain, and the U12 Div 2A also against Balmain. The O35 Div 1 were eliminated in their Final.

The O35 Div 5 also lost 1-nil to Leichhardt. As Minor premiers they get another shot next week against Balmain. Better luck next week!

But it was not all bad news. Next week we have two teams playing in sudden death Finals, and the following week 4 teams who have gone straight into the Grand Final.

Pictured below, the U12 Div 3 team who had a great win. They were leading 2-1 at half time, but then Leichhardt scored in the second half, meaning we were forced to extra time, then to a heart stopping penalty shootout, where our boys managed to fight their way to the Final next week. Well done! This team has had an amazing turnaround over the season - which has been very rewarding to watch.

The WIL had a emphatic 5 nil victory over Hurlstone Park. They are dominating their division, Minor Premiers and now a week off to train for the Grand Final.

Ryan's AA7 beat Minor Premiers Strathfield yesterday to cruise into the Grand Final, and today our other two Minor Premiers, U12 Div 4, thumped Marrickville 5 - 2, and the U16 Div 3 won 2 - 1 in overtime. Way to give your supporters a Heart attack guys! All are off to the Grand Final in two weeks.

Don't lose your edge on your week off, we have such high hopes for you all!
