Two Concord teams took to Bennetts Park today for the latest State Cup knockout round but only one emerged victorious.
Commiserations to the U14G - Lindfield proved to be a very formidable opposition. The girls fought hard all the way but 2019 was not to be our year. The competition started with 64 teams and to get into the top 16 for the State is an excellent result.
Congratulations to the U16 boys on a Five Nil win against Dolls Point, which propels them into the top 8 teams - one more win and we are in the Semis!
Goals were scored by Alexander, Benjamin and Lucca who scored one apiece but the real star was James who not only scored twice but entertained the crowd with a stunning pratfall. Equally important, Goalkeeper Michael to date has not conceded a single goal in three State Cup matches. Impressive work all round.
Dolls Point thrashed us on yellowcards 5 to 1. Good work lads!
So this is the team to carry our hopes for State Cup glory into Round 4 - keeping the dream alive - no pressure boys!
